Be generous: Invest in acts of charity. Charity yields high returns.
Don’t hoard your goods; spread them around.
Be a blessing to others. This could be your last night.

Live a life worthy of the Lord…. that’s a big statement. God, the maker of the universe, the one who breathed life into existence, the one who knows the name of every single star in the sky…. wow.
this is a repost from Melonnie Kelly’s blog dated January 19, 2011. She is a missionary in Haiti who, aside from helping to run the mission, also has her own ministry, visiting and sharing the Word with the Port-au-Paix prison. They are in desperate need of drinking water… can you help?
How many times do we see them? The people holding the signs, obviously homeless, obviously hungry. How many times do we hear about the family in our church who’s husband was laid off and their car was repossessed? How many children have to go to school without a winter coat before we step up and do something about it?
People will always need help. There will always be a starving child, there will always be a disaster that requires the assistance of many, and there will always be a land that cannot grow crops. There is no shortage of those who require the assistance of others to survive. But who benefits most from the assistance we give?
Do you want to know if you are living a life of purpose? Do you want to know if you’re doing what you are meant to do; if you’re making any headway? Look around… look that the lives of those you have touched. Their lives and the labors they pursue are your answer.
Do you help serve lunch at the homeless shelter? Do you talk to the teenager through the most difficult decision she will ever make? Do you raise money to go into a third world country so you can feed starving children? Are you there, in the trenches, getting dirty and breaking nails? Are you scraping your knees on the floor you’re building or getting paint in your hair?
You know them…people who give so that everyone can see it. It’s no surprise that some people do good things because they want the accolades. They write big checks and put their names on their donations. These people are looking for the applause of men. According to Jesus, they already have their reward.
