I wonder how many of us consider the possibility that the person who gives us the most grief about our faith was put there so we could receive this blessing?

We’re OK with emulating a Jesus that gets plaques and awards and recognition. But what about the Jesus that looks like the guy who lives under the bridge? Not many of us are willing to go there.

We don’t need big fancy words. We don’t need to impress people with our theology. We certainly don’t need to fight with them (or amongst ourselves) over *anything* – so why do we?
Be on guard. Be on alert. The wolf comes in sheep’s clothing. Some of the biggest lies told are told from the pulpit.
Jesus never had to beat the love of God into anyone. Jesus never had to ridicule a confession out of anyone, nor did he threaten anyone with their inevitable eternal damnation.
