The word I keep coming across is “we” – and I am filled with this sense of unity this morning. In the midst of tragedy, I see people converging (on Facebook) from all over the country to reach out, as a body, to this family. I see, in this moment, how the church is supposed to work.
Do you actually listen to the words your pastor preaches? Do you hear the words he says or are you simply ‘in attendance’?

There are so many people in the church who “get it.” There are those all around us that understand the bible, live a life dedicated to Jesus and are more than happy to mentor or guide those of us who need a little help. They seem to always make sense, and they always know what the bible says to do in any given situation.
Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God. Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart. Philippians 1:3

Crowds gathered around the early church because they were active. They were engaging. They were doing something with the gifts and talents they had received. People notice when a church is actively at work. They notice and they come.
You know that guy, the one who sits in the back? The one who holds his head down and doesn’t look anyone in the eye? The one who passes the plate without looking at it, without putting anything in it? Him.
The Church isn’t a denomination. It isn’t a cathedral or a monastery or a brick building with a large wooden cross. The church isn’t made of sticks and bricks and nails and mortar. It’s made of people, of followers. The Church is the body of Christ, not a building.
