Open up before God, keep nothing back; he’ll do whatever needs to be done: He’ll validate your life in the clear light of day and stamp you with approval at high noon. Psalm 37:5-6 MSG

I don’t know about you, but I learn lessons the hard way. I plow through life with my head down, like a bull in a china shop, insisting I know what I’m doing. In truth, when I live my life the way I want, it’s always a mess.

I’m not sure what the problem is inside us that makes us believe time and time again that we can run our life better than God can. I’m not sure why we can’t seem to learn our lesson and just trust him first instead of having to fall hard every time. So much heartache, so many wasted years, so many harsh words and hurt feelings could have been avoided if I just followed God’s path for me the first time.

And because God id good all the time, he rescues me when I call. I reached out to God and he was there for me, waiting, like always. The moment I begin to trust him again with my life, the moment I go to his word to see what it says about the way to live, as soon as I gave up control – things changed.

Our lives are meant to be lived a certain way – the way God intended. No other way will work. My way won’t work, your way won’t work. Only God’s way will work. We’re going to be talking a lot about this in a new series in January called The love Series. Let’s learn what God says about marriage and why it is so important to Satan to destroy it.

Father God, I pray for wisdom. I pray for your wisdom, not mine. God, you rescued me from myself yet again and I want to learn to lean on you first God, not second. Teach me through your word what it means to rely on you alone.
