Seeing grace everywhere
See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. Hebrews 12:15 NIV
In our crazy, busy, often selfish first-world-country life, it’s hard to stop long enough to see grace in our lives. We are over-burdened,over-worked, over-committed, over-stimulated, over-analyzed, and over-criticized. We are so busy getting to the next {whatever} that we can’t see what’s right in front of us:
- Our kids: we’re so busy getting them to their next scheduled activity that we miss the fact that they are growing everyday
- Our spouses: we’re so stressed about the bills and the house that we miss the chances for us to show our appreciation to them
- Our friends and family: are we so busy we have no time for the most important people in our lives?
- Our job: even though it’s a major contributor to our stress, are we thankful for the jobs we do have when so many have none?
It’s super easy to see the negative in anything; in everything. It takes grace and perseverance to see the grace in all things, or in anything.
Yes it’s hard. Yes, life is unfair. Yes, that’s the way it’s supposed to be. So, let’s stop waiting for life to be better so we can see grace; let’s find it right here in the life we’re walking today.
God, I pray that you help us see one item of grace today. And I pray that over time, we learn to see grace more and more often and negativity less and less. God, this path of Intentional Positivity is only so we can get closer to you, so fill us Lord with the need and the want to see grace and be grace.
