“Why go to him today?” he asked. “It’s not the New Moon or the Sabbath.”  “It’s all right,” she said. She saddled the donkey and said to her servant, “Lead on; don’t slow down for me unless I tell you.”  2 Kings 4:23-24 NIV

Too much, too fast, too many. This is what our life has become. We are constantly bombarded with stimuli from every possible direction. Even in silence there is no silence. It’s enough to make someone crazy.

That someone is usually me.

How can we continue to be Intentionally Positive if we are constantly and continually being required and requested and requisitioned for something? How can we continue to give out if we never have time to take in?

Stop. Slow down or you’ll run out of gas.

I am {literally} singing to the choir here. My life is so busy we had to create a “family’ calendar so everyone would know where everyone else is. We are home together maybe two nights a week. Jobs, school, singing, church, youth group, running, friends, mission trips, the list could go on forever.

It’s hard to stay positive when we can barely keep our heads above water. Can I get an amen?

Do you hear what I’m saying?

If you continue to keep going at that pace, eventually you will be no good to anyone, including yourself. We need to {have to} take time to recharge, to refill and to slow down.

God, my life is hard and fast and often quite fulfilling. But it is also exhausting. God, wrap me up when I need to pull back and fill me up so I can continue to do the things you’ve called me to do. Help me see that if I don’t take care of myself, I can’t minister to anyone.
