The astrologers answered the king, “There is not a man on earth who can do what the king asks! No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer. What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among men.” Daniel 2: 10-11 NIV

No one can do that.
No one can help me.
She’s too far gone.
He’ll never recover.
It’s too late.

The biggest problem with ourselves, is, well… ourselves. We are usually too busy throwing ourselves a pity party to bother to pray the big prayer. We’re too set in our belief that God can’t or won’t or isn’t able that we forget that all we have to do is ask with the belief that it has already been done and God will answer our petitions when they are in accordance with his will.

It says it, right there in black and white. Go ahead, read 1 John 5:14-15… it says it right there.

Yet, we never pray like that. We never pray like we already have been answered. Instead we believe the lie that what we need is too big.

Sometimes the cancer won’t be healed.
Sometimes the marriage won’t be restored.
Sometimes the kids won’t turn to God.

but we’ll never know if we don’t ever ask like we mean it. We’ll never know unless we stop praying cute little prayers with big words and start being real with God. Open up, cry, yell, scream, discuss, ask. Be real and be honest and surprisingly, He’ll be the same way back.

God, for so long I’ve prayed to you what I thought you wanted to hear. The truth is, I’m confused, I’m weary and I’m hurt. God I pray that I learn to lean on you more and not of the nonsense of everything going on around me. Lord, the next time I cry out to you, I pray I am strong enough to pray big bold prayers as if they are already mine.
