“But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set.If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?” John 5:45-47 NIV

People argue the point all the time. We are Gentiles, therefore:
The Old Testament doesn’t apply to us.
We don’t live by the law, we live by faith
The law was not meant for us
Jesus told Peter he could eat whatever he wanted…

While we might not be held to the law, we are certainly required to believe the law.

We are required to believe what Moses said. If we don’t believe Moses, we cannot believe Jesus. This makes the Old Testament and every single word in it important. Stop telling people the history of God is unimportant. Stop telling people that they can start at Matthew and disregard the rest. Learn from the Old Testament. Learn from prophets for history always repeats itself.

The word was written down and given to us so we would learn from it, not disregard it.

GOD, every time I open the Old Testament I learn something new about my life, my simple Gentile life. Your law may have been for the Jew, but your message is for me too. I read the struggles of my life in their stories. I see the sickness of the world today in the nations of old. God help me help people understand that ALL of your word is important to ALL of us.
