But you’ll welcome us with open arms when we run for cover to you. Let the party last all night! Stand guard over our celebration. You are famous, God, for welcoming God-seekers, for decking us out in delight. Psalm 5:11-12 MSG
Have you ever been rescued by God? Have you ever been on the brink of disaster, on the edge of a cliff, only to be pulled to safety and there is no other explanation but God himself? I have, and it’s a feeling unlike any other to know, to really know, that only God could have pulled that off and that he was there, ready and able to rescue.
God loves us all, but he takes special delight in God seekers; those who seek Him. For all the effort God puts into each and every one of us, his reaction when someone turns to Him and actually seeks Him out, must be breathtaking. It must make God’s day when we turn from the world and instead raise our hands up to heaven in praise, prayer and worship. It must make God’s day when we choose Him over all the distractions strategically placed in our lives. It must make God’s day when we turn off the TV so we can pray. When we turn down the radio to teach our kids about Jesus, when we invite others to share in what we have.
When we run to God and are filled with that feeling of overwhelming calm, when we are consumed with the peace that surpasses understanding, I believe that is an overflow of what God is feeling for us that spills onto us from His hands. These are the feelings that we cannot and almost dare not put into words, these are the moments when we see God, when we feel him and know he is close and the only way to understand is to have experienced it firsthand. These are the moments I pray everyone gets to experience.
Father, when I truly surrender and truly run to you, I feel you catch me in your arms. I feel that overflow of what you feel for me and it brings me to my knees. God help me explain this feeling to others so they too can honestly and earnestly seek it; seek you.
