Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Phillipians 3:12-14 NIV)

One of the biggest lies told is that Christians lead perfect lives and that if you don’t, you can’t join our club. It’s one of the biggest scams Satan has going, the whisper, “you’re not good enough” “look what you did, they’ll never accept you.”

While they (that church, that group, those people) may indeed not accept you – mark my words - Jesus will.

Jesus will take us as we are, in our pit, in our mess – so long as we acknowledge who He is and acknowledge that we have sinned.

We’re not called to be perfect, we’re just called. The goal is to finish the race, not to win it. There is no winning – Jesus was the only one qualified to win, so stop putting all that pressure on people. They can’t live up to man-made expectations.

Leave the past behind, give it to Jesus and don’t look back. Push forward, grabbing hold of others on our way and bringing them with us. THAT, my friends, is our goal. Stop spreading the lie and just spread Jesus.

Lord, here I am, a mess and we both know it. I’m not hiding my mess from you, I’m here to give it to you so you can help me through it. Lord give me and others the wisdom to understand there was only one perfect man, and that was Jesus.
