and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. (John 16:11 NIV)

Sometimes I don’t understand how we forget the big piece of the puzzle.  The enemy has been defeated. The war is already over. God won. We won. Why don’t we live like it?

I’ll never understand why we allow the enemy to continue to make us think he is winning. In the end – he loses. Until then, it’s just a matter of how many people can he take with him. Why would we let that happen if we know the truth? Why would we give him one moment of our attention. We know he is the losing team.

We get distracted by the shiny things he waves in front of us. We get distracted by the way he makes us think that this world is better than the next. Take note, he still loses. We get lured away by money, power, greed; following the jingly sound made to distract us from our true purpose. They are all lies, and deep down we know it, but sometimes we can’t help ourselves. Sometimes we follow the enemy down his path, and it’s not until we stop and look around that we realize we’re completely lost again.

So stand firm; the enemy has been defeated. God came and he rose and he is. Live in that and don’t let the shiny things get you off course.

Lord, you win! You won! The story has been told, the war has been fought and you came out the victor. I will remind myself of this everyday as I watch others be distracted by the shiny things the enemy shows them. I will do my best to bring them with me.
